What is adware/spyware and how can I get rid of it?
Adware refers to any software that displays advertisements, whether it does so with the user’s consent or not. Spyware watches what users do with their computer and then sends that information over the Internet to someone else. Spyware could track what websites a user visits. It can also record a user’s passwords or credit card numbers. Adware and spyware can be installed on a computer without the user’s knowledge, and can drastically slow performance of the computer. This can cause programs to crash or prevent access to the Internet.
There are a number of products available that can clean adware/spyware from a computer. One of the most popular is Ad-Aware from Lavasoft. You can download a free copy of Ad-Aware SE by clicking this link. Also, many anti-virus firms such as Symantec and McAfee now offer adware/spyware solutions with their anti-virus applications.
Following are a few ways you can protect yourself from adware/spyware infections.
Download programs only from reputable sources that you trust.
Keep your operating system up-to-date.
Perform periodic adware/spyware scans with a program such as Ad-Aware.

When is my bill due?
All bills are issued on the 1st of the month for that month of service. Your payment is due by the 11th of the month. Please refer to our Billing Policies for further details.
If I cancel before the end of my billing service package, do I receive a refund?
A subscriber may cancel service at any time, but is responsible for any fees incurred up to the date of termination of service. We will reimburse the subscriber for any unused fees other than those for the month that the service cancellation was given to Alphacomm.net.
Should a customer opt to cancel a 3, 6, or 12-month billing package prior to the end of the contract period, the customer’s billing is recalculated at the monthly billing rate for the time period service was used. The balance will be reimbursed to the customer, less a one-month termination fee.
What are the partial charges on my bill?
The first bill for the service package you choose is prorated according to the number of days remaining in the month. We normally bill on the 1st of each month.
Is it safe to enter my credit card payment on your website?
Yes. Once you enter your payment amount and click on “Make Payment,” you are redirected to VeriSign.com. They are a secure web site, so your information is encrypted before being sent out over the Internet. If you click on the VeriSign.com logo, it will verify that their site is secure and the certificate is valid.
If I am currently subscribed to dial-up service and would like to upgrade to DSL before my current billing contract expires, will I be able to transfer my credit balance?
Yes. Alphacomm.net would credit all unused days or months of service in your current billing contract. This credit balance will be transferred to any balance incurred during the upgrade to DSL.
What is DSL?
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is an always-on, ultra-fast Internet connection that uses the same wiring as your telephone. DSL is great for online gaming and transporting high-speed data, movies, and television.
What are the main benefits of DSL?
For Residential Users:
|
Works on your existing phone line – no need for a second phone line |
|
Affordable, high-speed Internet access |
|
DSL is always on – no need to enter usernames and passwords |
For Business Users:
|
High upload and download speeds |
|
Fast, permanent Internet connection |
|
Higher productivity |
Can I talk on the phone and use DSL at the same time?
Yes. DSL is separate from your phone service, so you can surf the Internet while you are on the phone.
Do I need special wiring installed to use DSL?
No. Most homes and businesses will not need special wiring because DSL works over your regular telephone line.
Since they share the same phone line, will DSL cause problems with my phone service?
No. Special filters keep the digital DSL signals and the analog voice signals separate. And DSL uses frequencies far above what the human ear is capable of hearing.
How do I reset my DSL modem?

My computer is saying, “No dial tone detected…”
This could be caused by any of the following situations:
Modem not connected to the phone line properly
Voice mail service dial tone confusing the modem
Telephone service to phone line disrupted or disconnected
First, make sure that you can hear a dial tone on the line by connecting a telephone.
Make sure your modem is connected properly to the phone line:
